I think it's all down to my best friend Mr iPhone.
Since having all my music in one place, easily accessible and able to play it all in the car without carrying a million CD's around I have got back into listening to music - a lot! I always like to have the radio on at home, and often put some music channel on the tv if there's nothing to watch, but listening to MY music and enjoying favourite songs didn't happen that often.
This summer I watched lot's of Glastonbury* highlights, while wishing I'd gone to one of the festivals when I was young and carefree - and wondering if I should add it to my list of things I want to do before I die!
When younger, about 14/15 I went to lots of punk rock concerts, done up to the nines! While in the Navy I managed to get to see more bands live while on my travels and the odd one or two in the 20 years or so since. The Rolling Stones, Grace Jones, The Monkees, The cult, Prince, The Mission to name the ones I can remember. Most recent was Take That's Circus Tour which was amazing.
After some discussion I have persuaded hubby to wake up a bit and come to a concert with me. One of my most favourite bands, and one that we went to see in our courting days, The cult are playing in Leeds in October, a couple of days before my birthday. So we have booked Alexander in with the childminder for a night, booked a hotel and are having a night in the city! I am very excited about this.

Today however, hubby and his pal are setting off to see Bruce Springsteen in Glasgow. It's his annual Brucie trip and will come back full of the usual stories to bore me rigid with. I have had to suffer his Springsteen stories more times than is bearable. Had to wash and iron more Springsteen T shirts than should be allowed. I am at time a 'Springsteen widow'.
I don't mind his music, and will tap my foot to it when it's on but it's not really my bag!
and then, having stirred up interest in gigging, I have booked us tickets to see my latest fave band Kasabian (who were fantastic at Glastonbury) in November here in Newcastle. Think this might be a bit more 'lively' than The Cult, who's followers are a little long in the tooth now, so we may have to stand at the side and jig about a bit rather than 'pogo' when they play 'Fire'.
The Armstrongs have missed the 'Summer of Rock' so will have an 'Autumn of Rock' instead - rather fitting for us older folk eh?* Glastonbury is THE music festival to go to in the UK. There are any others but this is the one with the biggest and best line up usually - although I'm sure many will disagree!

Rock on, lass! Me - I like the more sedate classical scene, but am not above enjoying a bit of Rock'N'Roll thrown in for good measure...
I'd rather hang from a noose than listen to Bruce...
I think you and I could have a good time with music. I look forward to hearing more about your concerts! I'm finishing up my post about Green Day. A concert I hope you get to see one of these days. It was awesome!
Jinksy - a bit of toe tapping is good for your ankles!
JJ Daddy-O - I'd be up there with you!
Cap'n - We could that! I'm off to look for more bands playing around here - and I forgot to mention that a couple of years ago my eldest asked me to take him to see Trivium! Death metal no less - now according to a mate of his, I'm a well cool Mum!
I can't handle Bruce..... at all!
How are you girly???
are any of these groups close to the music when you listen to bocelli or willie nelson, or celine, or my grandson singing jesus wants me for a sunbeam

i just had to take this opportunity and tell you a true story about a singer,,,,yes ole donnie osmaond...osmond...he sang in our church ...in the hollow of his hand for his nephew's farewell...and then afterwards sat at our table and talked about his new show in vegas with marie...and how the food there was awful compareed with the sevenup mazurinated turkey we had right here in sanpete ...he said he missed the life of small town usa...he then bore his testimony of the mormon church to us and kissed his nephew's grandma before he left us all to fly down to vegas by helecopter right there at our ephrqim airport...wow tismee2...what do you think??????
Hi Tismee - you still around? Anyone there???
have you given up blogging forever- I have noone to celebrate the toons wins with !!!
Though I am not a fan of Bruce myself, hearing his music being played on the radio(or by my uncle who is a die-hard fan of his), reminds me of those days when having a fist fight with my brother was a daily routine preceding dessert after dinner time. Funny how music brings back old memories(even the not-so-good ones at that!).
