Although I had a heavy heart as we drove down the valley away from Hoscote, as soon as I saw the sign for Newcastle it felt good to be home. Once everything was unpacked and washing was in progress it was lovely to relax.
So here are a few final photo's of our trip to the Borders taken with my new camera - however I think I need to get some practice in with the settings!
This is Prudential House at the bottom of the High Street in Hawick. The High Street looking up towards Drumlanrig Tower at the top.

Almstrongs Department Store. They don't make them like this anymore!

Drumlanrig from behind the shops on the High Street.

Drumlanrig Tower

This is The Snook. Owned by an artist now. There is no access to cars etc so anything for the house has to be carried over a tiny bridge!

Your new camera is doing the trick.
Drumlanrig is such a poetic name! And Snook - a picture postcard.
Everything is still clothed in winter, no signs of spring there yet? Apart from the lambs.
Thanks both of you.
Spring is a little timid this year as one day it's glorious sunshine and the next frost. I think I would be a bit cagey about surfacing too! We're getting there though.
Nice pictures.
I love going on vacations, but coming home is truly the best part. There's nothing like sleeping in my own comfortable and familiar bed.
Yes I totally agree, there really is no place like your own bed. Except the one in the cottage was huge and ours is tiny. I'm wanting a BIG bed now - or maybe singles??
